Hi friends!
I want to show you a few examples of the vast work of Guayasamin, an Ecuadorian expressionist painter.
Observe the expressive force that this artist manages to impose on his works by exaggerating the size and proportions of the hand but always respecting his main characteristics. Added to this is a masterful use of colour, deeply studied to give maximum expression and drama to his work.
Also note that here the leading role is played by the hands, which reinforce the attitude and feeling of the face that accompanies them.
Another important consideration in Guayasamin's work is the background of flat and deep colours made to go unnoticed but nevertheless contributes to giving maximum dramatic enhancement to those suffering hands and faces in most cases.
It is also worth saying that there is a strong ethnic commitment in his painting, but that is something that we will be able to study in future analyzes of his work. What concerns us now are the hands as a model of artistic expression.

Quiero mostrarles algunos ejemplos de la vasta obra de Guayasamin, pintor expresionista ecuatoriano.
Observa la fuerza expresiva que este artista logra imponer en sus obras exagerando el tamaño y las proporciones de la mano pero siempre respetando sus principales características. A esto se suma un uso magistral del color, profundamente estudiado para dar la máxima expresión y dramatismo a su obra.
Nótese también que aquí el protagonismo lo juegan las manos, que refuerzan la actitud y el sentimiento del rostro que las acompaña.
Otra consideración importante en la obra de Guayasamín es el fondo de colores planos y profundos hechos para pasar desapercibidos pero que sin embargo contribuyen a dar el máximo realce dramático a aquellas manos y rostros que sufren en la mayoría de los casos.
También vale decir que hay un fuerte compromiso étnico en su pintura, pero eso es algo que podremos estudiar en futuros análisis de su obra. Lo que nos ocupa ahora son las manos como modelo de expresión artística.
Espero que estos ejemplos te sirvan de aliento e inspiración para crear tus propias obras.

If beauty is the result of a process by which art brings pleasure to our senses, it should be a matter of personal discretion, even if outside forces noisily control it.
