The downtown Dallas skyline is one of the best in the country, often being emblemized in local artwork, music videos and even tattoos. However, the skyline is about to go through some major renovations that will change its look forever. Two new buildings are being added to the beloved skyline, with one of those buildings expected to become the tallest building in Dallas.

On Wednesday, the Dallas City Council is expected to vote on incentives for the two new buildings being added to the Downtown skyline. According to NBC DFW, one of those projects will be an 80-story building on North Field Street that will beat out the Bank of America Plaza as the tallest building in Dallas. The other building will be a 38-story mixed-use high rise with office, apartment, hotel and retail space located at the vacant surface parking lots south of Dallas City Hall.

“Dallas is booming right now, especially downtown. If we don’t build up downtown, especially our core, you’re not going to grow the city of Dallas. You’ve got to build downtown, the core,” said Tennell Atkins, chairman of the Dallas City Council Economic Development Committee. Hopefully these new buildings help make the Dallas skyline even more spectacular.
