April 8, 2024I bought the Crown 2502 after having the Crown 1502. I run two Klipsch dual 6.5 tower speakers and a 12 inch Kicker subwoofer. This amp is quiet and I can use it the whole day, it doesn't even get hot. American Musical Supply allowed me to make a small down payment, no credit check, no questions asked. My product was delivered the next day!!! Beautiful new condition and extremely fast shipping. Flexible payments with no credit check, I will definitely buy more products! This website is amazing! Thank you American Musical!

January 17, 2022I purchased this to power my Klipsch RF7 iii tower speakers. Though targeted to sound reinforcement/PA use, there is growing interest in this Class D amplifier in the "audiophile" community. The price can't be beat compared to similarly power-rated amplifiers.
After almost a month with this amp, I am really impressed. While the face and "wings" that project laterally outside the usual width of most 17 inch wide home stereo equipment will push some away, this is partially addressed by options to reduce visual impact by turning off the front face lighting. The rest of the unit is compact and light, especially compared to comparable AB amplifiers.
The connection options are adequate for the home user. The center speaker connect inserts require some ingenuity (twist a screw into the center and pull plug, wine cork style) to remove for banana plug connectivity. There are very useful dials on the front face for power balancing adjustments and crossover options are accessed by digital controls.
How about the sound? I have a mix of old (1980s) and current stereo equipment. My frame of reference is a mint Denon POA-1500 amplifier (150w/channel, 1986 vintage) and newer Parasound 2125 V2 amplifier, also about 150w/channel. For the same volume setting, the Crown puts out more volume and fills the room more than either comparison amps - no secret with the power rating. The bass is very satisfying - tight and controlled even at high volumes. The mid range is similarly satisfying, if a bit "clinical" and not "tube" like. The highs are very good at low to normal volume but can be just a bit edgy at higher volumes. This is no doubt emphasized through my Klipsch speakers, known for brighter highs. Compensation is easy with a small treble tweak at the preamplifier. Overall, this is REALLY a good amplifier and a nice option to keep in my stereo rack to complement my other stereo equipment.

June 3, 2022Overall:
I use my XLS2502 to drive a pair of KEF LS50 Metas for my computer audio system. I also have a FiiOK9 Pro ESS dac and SVS SB3000 Micro subwoofer to complete the system. I spent a lot more $$ than I ever expected, but am thrilled with the sound. The 2502 provides lots of clean power for hungry speakers like the LS50 while staying cool even during my hours-long gaming and music jamming sessions. I still haven't heard the cooling fans kick in at any time. The TRS Link/Out jacks are perfect for connecting a powered subwoofer. I tried the XTI2002 (also bought from zZounds), but it was much bigger/heavier and got quite warm during daily use. I sold it on Audiogon and put the $$ towards the 2502. If you're wondering, these Crown amps have nice resale value. I got $700 for my six-month old XTI. One last point on Crown amps, they don't come with any feet so the unit lays flat on my desktop. I bought a set of IsoAcoustic mini-pucks which work great to lift and support the amp off the desk surface. I give the 2502 and zZounds my highest recommendation!

April 1, 2022I own 2 XLS 2502 amplifiers and a Crown XLS 2500. I purchased them for sound reinforcement but have listened to them through my Martin Logan electrostatic speakers using a McIntosh MX136 to drive them. These amplifiers are sonically very neutral with none of the classic class D brightness one often finds. The XLS2502 amps are extremely powerful and quiet, provided you use the XLR connections. The RCA connectors do seem to pickup some ground loop noise. These amplifiers have much higher gain than my Adcom GFA 5802 amplifiers and if you use RCAs, in a high resolution stereo, consider reducing the input gain controls to about 3/4s full. This lowers the RCA noise floor to an acceptable level. The XLR connectors are dead quiet. Resolution of low level detail is good and the soundstage in stereo is both wide and deep. The top end is very smooth and polite. I slightly prefer the Adcom amplifiers but without a direct AB reference, I would be happy with the Crowns in my system.
