While the specs and features appear nice for the price, it's made of cheap plastic. The first one I ordered (open box) arrived broken, and the second one I ordered (new) already has stress cracks on the side flag mounts after only opening and closing the flags a few times.

Additionally, while the included 4x5.65" filter trays slide on easily, I had also ordered two 4x4" trays for my square filters. Those ones are very difficult to slide on, despite literally being made for this matte box.

I'm going to keep mine and just reinforce all the stress points with glue because I need something that's functional and cheap to use on a B cam, but I definitely wouldn't want this on an A cam. For an A cam or any setup that gets a lot of use, you'd be doing yourself a favor to look at higher priced matte boxes.

Had a chance to use this a couple times so far and it's not bad. The build is about what you'd expect at this price, but I'd also say worth it if you're looking for something on budget.

The one downfall is it's not great for working fast and changing filters quickly. The filter holders don't slide out like more expensive systems. You have to basically unbuild the stack of filters, load your glass, then rebuild the stack again. It's not terribly difficult by any means, but will definitely slow you down a bit. Would have been nice if they could just slide out from the side for quick changes. The filter holders also feel a bit cheap/plastic.

Other than that it's great!

The fit of the plastic slide-in frames isn't great. Very fussy to fully align and lock into place. The top flap can't close all the way if you have more than one frame attached, like an ND filter + side flaps. They should've made the top flap hinge extend forward. Or made the side flaps frame or main frame accommodate a rectangular filter.

I think it's overpriced. Many of their cages are cheaper.

But it does kill flare much better than the usual lens hood. And it's indeed compact. Just not as workflow efficient or precision-made as it could/should be.

Perfect fit with my R5C setup. Great quality and functionality (modular, if you need extra filters, which are easy click-to-install).
The box includes 4 adapters but I also bought additional adapter kit to being able to use any of my lenses.
